Glenn Harold Peterson, age 77, died Oct. 29, 2024, at MercyOne Medical Center in Clinton, IA, due to complications from nasopharyngeal (throat) cancer, first diagnosed in 2003.  He had two lengthy remissions and several shorter remissions from this persistent cancer.

Glenn was born September 9, 1947, in Morrison, IL to Harold and LaVelle (Milnes) Peterson.  He married Barbara Wood on September 7, 1969 in Carbondale, IL.

He graduated from Morrison High School and received degrees from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale.  Glenn taught Agriculture and Science at Morrison High School, retiring in 2004.  He sponsored the FFA.  He also coached Wrestling and Baseball.  He played Fast-pitch Softball for many years and participated in National tournaments as a Pitcher for the Morrison Merchants team.  Glenn was a long-time member of the Whiteside County Fair Board and served as the Dairy Superintendent.  He collected many ribbons and a Best of Show trophy for his photographs at the County fair.  He was a Master Gardener.  With his brother, he raised cattle and grain on the family farm.  Glenn enjoyed reading, traveling, gardening, woodworking, and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara; sons, David (Heather) Peterson of Minneapolis, MN, and Derek (Moeko Otsuchi) Peterson of Hoffman Estates, IL; 3 grandchildren, Clio Grace and Eleri Ruth Peterson of Minneapolis and Yujin Glenn Peterson of Hoffman Estates, IL; sister, LaVon (Larry) Downing of Rockford, IL; brother, Ray (Vicky) Peterson of Morrison.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to WQPT, 3300 River Drive, Moline, IL 61265.  Glenn truly enjoyed watching PBS mysteries and cooking shows.

The Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Morrison, IL, where he was a member.  Pastor Tammy Anderson will officiate.

There will be no Visitation.

Burial will be in Grove Hill Cemetery, Morrison, IL.
