Donna Mae Bierman, 92, of Homestead of Morrison in Morrison, IL, died on Friday, August 2, 2024, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling, IL.

Donna was born March 15, 1932, in Sterling to John and Carrie (Dombrosky) Landheer.  She was educated in the Morrison schools.  Later she attended a technical school in Rockford, IL, to pursue her degree as an x-ray technician.  On November 18, 1956, she married Robert “Bob” Bierman at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Sterling.  Bob passed away on November 14, 2020.  Donna began her career working at the Sterling Hospital, and later moved to Morrison Community Hospital as an X-ray Technician, retiring from there at the age of 62.  She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Morrison.  Donna enjoyed nature, spending time observing wildlife and birdwatching, and gardening.  Her grandchildren were truly the love of her life.

Survivors include her daughter, Barb (Mike) VanZuiden of the Quad Cities; sons, Jeff Bierman of Morrison, and Paul Bierman of Bryant, IA; two grandchildren, Travis (Veronica) VanZuiden and Tyler (Tawny) VanZuiden; one great-grandchild, Lillian May VanZuiden.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob; brother, Kenneth Landheer.

Cremation rites have been accorded.

There will be no Visitation or Funeral Service.

A private family Graveside Service at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison, IL, will be held at a later date.

A memorial has been established to Homestead Assisted Living & Memory Care of Morrison, IL.
