The Whiteside Forum will kick off another season of presentations and discussions on Thursday, September 26, 2013, with Blaine Mineman of Amnesty International.  This and future events are held in the Program Room of the Odell Public Library from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., at 307 S. Madison Street, in Morrison, IL.  All are free and open to the public.

Your participation, questions, and comments always make for an environment of better learning and sharing of information.  We won’t have all the answers, but everyone leaves with a better understanding.  Please join us for a thought-provoking consideration of the following topics.

The theme is Human Rights.  Our future schedule follows.

  • Thursday, September 26, 2013–Human Rights:  Women’s Rights, with Blaine Mineman, Amnesty International
  • Thursday, October 24, 2013–Human Rights:  Privacy vs. National Security, with the American Civil Liberties Union.
  • Thursday, January 23, 2014–Human Rights:  The History of Natural Rights, Civil Rights, and Civility.  Why is it so hard?
  • Thursday, February 27, 2014–Human Rights:  Living with the people who came before us.  A movie and discussion; probably the award winning documentary “American Outrage.”
  • Friday, April 11, 2014–Human Rights:  Indigenous People, Their Rights and Perspective; a panel discussion.
