Illinois State Senator Neil Anderson and State Representative Tony McCombie invite local families to attend a free Children’s Health and Safety Expo on Saturday, September 14, 2019, from 9:00 a.m. to noon.  The venue is Glenview Middle School, 3100 7th Street, in East Moline, IL.  Admission to the event is free with complimentary refreshments.  A drawing for giveaways will take place at noon.

Special attractions include a variety of live demonstrations and the popular Touch-A-Truck exhibit.  Children can get behind the wheel of their favorite vehicles, such as Police cars and Fire trucks, and ask questions of those who operate them.  Information will be available on topics such as car seat safety, after-school activities, nutrition, and more.

The demonstration schedule follows:

  • 9:00–Interactive Zumba Class
  • 9:30–QC Gymnastics Academy
  • 10:00–All Family ATA Taekwondo
  • 10:30–Dance Connection
  • 11:00–Metzler Juggling.

The event features over 35 State and local agencies, non-profit organizations, and local businesses.  They cover a wide range of educational, health, childcare, recreational, and community services for families and children.

“I encourage families with young children to take advantage of the free and fun event,” said Sen. Anderson.  “Not only will kids have fun, but parents, too, can benefit from the useful information that will be available, on how to keep their children safe.”

“We have some outstanding organizations that will be in attendance and available to provide fun and interactive activities for the kiddos, including a helicopter that will be taking off and landing,” said Rep. McCombie. “Children and their families can visit the information booths, learn about their favorite trucks, and win door prizes.  We hope to see you at the event!”
