“The Gathering,” a heartwarming Christmas movie, was made for TV and first shown in 1977; however, its message of forgiveness and love is timeless. The Friends of Odell Public Library will present “The Gathering,” starring Ed Asner and Maureen Stapleton, on Tuesday, December 11, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. in the Program Room, 307 S. Madison Street, Morrison, IL.
Weeks before Christmas, a bitter executive named Adam Thornton, played by Ed Asner, learns that he is very ill and has just a short time to live. Having abandoned his former wife, Maureen Stapleton, and four children years earlier, Adam seeks forgiveness and confides in his wife. She listens with her heart and encourages him to bring the family together one last time.
However, he must apologize to his children for his actions. Adam agrees and, without telling his children about his terminal illness, invites them to come together for Christmas. Will they come? Will they forgive their father?
Come and be uplifted by this powerful story on a December day leading to Christmas.
There is no charge, but all donations assist in financing the movie rental license.
