NedNestiAre you interested in learning about the artwork in our local gallery, Loft 112?  Ned J. Nesti, Jr., former Morrison Junior High Art Instructor and Curator at the Loft, will discuss the art and artists exhibited at the Loft, on Tuesday, September 11, 2018, beginning at 7:30 p.m.  The cost is $5 for non-members, at the door, and free for members.

The topic for Nesti’s discussion will be, “Why We Choose Certain Art.”  Nesti states, “Art is a personal choice and based on a variety of aspects, like where we live, education, exposure, and experience.”

Utilizing the art displayed in Loft 112, Nesti will discuss the question, What makes good art?  What are the characteristics of successful art pieces?

Successful art and artists use the elements and principles of design, as well as the expressive elements of mood, feeling, and idea.  However, as each of us is different, so is our taste.

Nesti was the art instructor at Morrison Junior High for 38 years.  Simultaneously, he was also a consultant for Scholastic Magazine‘s, “Art and Man” publication.  Morrison Junior and Senior High students participated in his Scholastic Workshops for 32 years.  Photos of their work were used in the magazine.  Nesti also worked for the National Gallery of Art’s Extension Service for 12 years.

For an informative and unique evening, join Ned Nesti, Jr. at Loft 112, at 112 East Main Street, in Morrison, IL, for a lively conversation all about art.
