KidsFishingLocal area youth, ages five to 12, are encouraged to pre-register now for Kids Fishing Day at the Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife and Fish Refuge.  A youth fishing clinic will be held at Frog Pond on Saturday, September 8, 2018, from 9:00 a.m. to noon.  The service will provide poles (for those who do not have their own), bait, lessons, and some good, old fishing fun.  Children six and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian during the day. 

Following an exciting day of fishing will be a “shore lunch,” hot dog cookout.

The Office is located at 7071 Riverview Road, Thomson, IL.  Participants will meet at the Frog Pond parking lot, which is located 1.5 miles south of Savanna, IL, on Route 84.  Look for the banners along the road.  Listen to WCCI FM 100.3 for a cancellation notice.

Contact the District Office at 815-273-2732 to register your child or volunteer to help.  Registration ends Thursday, September 6, at 4:00 p.m. Please bring your own fishing pole if you have one.

The Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife and Fish Refuge is the most-visited refuge in the United States.  The refuge extends 261 miles along the Upper Mississippi River from Wabasha, MN, to Rock Island, IL, protecting and preserving habitats for migratory birds, fish, and a variety of other wildlife. This 240,000 acre refuge was established in 1924.
