From spring into fall, blooms are aplenty in the gardens that surround this stately home at 408 N. Genesee Street, Morrison, IL, the home of Sabrina and Todd Statzer.  The Statzers and their dogs moved to Morrison in February of 2016.  A beautiful, ornate fence was installed that spring, surrounding their front yard to give their dogs more freedom.  Gorgeous corner gardens were added to each side of the fence.  Early in the springtime after the ferns unfurl, the bleeding hearts, tulips, and daffodils, bloom brightly; blooms from the alliums and columbines appear shortly after.

Summertime brings a host of other perennials, including various species of hostas, lilies, wild ginger, irises, coneflowers, ornamental grasses, astilbes, and sedums.  To add even more interest to the yard, the Statzers have planted 18 Japanese Maples, two gold thread Mop Cypress shrubs, rose bushes, and BoBo and Limelight hydrangea bushes.

Beyond the privacy fence in the backyard is a beautiful, secluded oasis.  New plantings border the fence:  Japanese Maples, more hostas, columbines, ferns, bleeding hearts, and ground covers.

Sabrina’s favorites in the gardens are the alliums in the spring, the red lilies, which are blooming now, and her hydrangea shrubs.  Sabrina and Todd will soon be moving, due to a job relocation; their home is currently for sale.
