But there are simple steps anyone can take to prevent cervical cancer:

CervicalCancerWeekvaccinate early.  It is recommended that girls be vaccinated at age 11-to-12.

The vaccine produces a stronger immune response when taken during the pre-teen years.

However, young women can be vaccinated through age 26.

PreventCervicalCancerscreen regularly.  Women should start with a Pap test at age 21.

They should be co-tested with a pap and an HPV test, starting at age 30.

A healthcare provider will offer advice on how often a woman should be screened.

 

 

 

The CGH Health Foundation recommends that from early on, women should see a gynecologist for routine preventive care, including Pap tests to screen for cervical cancer and pre-cancers.  Take steps to protect yourself, because you’re worth it!
