Prior to producing a new feathered family, Liberty and Justice, the notable Quad-City eagles, had a major nest remodel when they returned to the area. Their seven-foot-diameter nest was blown out of the tree during a storm last year. The new nest is so deep, their eggs are hard to see by Arconic Eaglecam.
Liberty and Justice joined the Quad-Cty area in 2009. From their first aerie they have fledged 11 eaglets.
The first egg of the season was spotted by eagle-eyed nest viewers “on [Valentine’s Day,] Tuesday, February 14, 2017, around 3:30 or 4:00 p.m.,” stated company spokesman John Riches. A second egg was noted Friday, February 17. He said the first “egg should hatch around [Tuesday,] March 21.” A possible third egg ‘likely will come one-to-two days after the second egg [was] laid.”
