ExtravaganzaLogoThe City of Morrison Parks and Recreation Department has planned the first annual “Summer Extravaganza” for Saturday, July 30, 2016, from noon to 8:00 p.m. The event will be held at Morrison Sports Complex, east of the City at Route 30 and Bishop Road, Morrison, IL.

This one-day event includes fun activities and events for all ages.  Free kids’ activities include

  • obstacle course
  • human soccer balls
  • bounce houses (free will donation will be taken to offset expenses)
  • kids’ bean bag tournament
  • face painting
  • concessions
  • ice cream eating contest (sponsored by Happy Joe’s of Morrison)
  • more!

Adult activities include a bean bag tournament, a blind-draw volleyball tournament, and a beer garden.  Admission to the beer garden is $5.  Cost of the bags and volleyball tournaments is $25 each or $40 to enter both.  Entry fee for the tournaments includes a $5 meal ticket and entry to the beer garden ($10 value.)  Half of the entry fees will be returned as prize money.

There will also be food eating contests.  For all food eating contests, please go to the respective restaurants to sign up.

We are also excited to announce that the hometown favorite band, “30 West,” will perform from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., with fireworks to follow at approximately 9:30.

2:00 p.m.:  Monster Thick Burger Eating Contest

4:00 p.m.:  Blazin’ Wings Challenge

6:00 p.m.:  Hot Dog Eating Contest

4:00 to 8:00 p.m.:  Live music by “30 West”

Ice Cream Eating Contests throughout the day

Approximately 9:30 p.m.:  Fireworks (weather permitting)
